The whispers you’ve heard are true – World class indoor climbing is coming to the Hudson Valley. Mark Davidson and his team are working around the clock to finish up the final phase of construction to open the doors of The Gravity Vault on 6 Neptune Road, which is located off Route 9 in Poughkeepsie, NY. We had the pleasure of speaking with Mark to learn a bit more about what to expect when the doors open. During our conversation it was clear there will be a strong focus on operational excellence to ensure safety on all levels so you can be confident you’re in good hands while climbing at The Gravity Vault. In addition, Mark’s energy and excitement are contagious – hearing him describe the gym left us counting down the days until opening. The climbing gym will be jam packed with fun and inventive ways to introduce you to the sport of climbing so be sure to stop in, after they open, to learn about these programs.

gvCurrently Gravity Vault gyms are located throughout New Jersey and they’ve recently started expansion into New York and Pennsylvania. The Poughkeepsie location will be 14,000 sq ft of overall climbing terrain with high walls up to 35 feet and over 100 linear feet of bouldering up to 16 feet high. You can expect Walltopia, different from RockWerx used in NJ gyms, which is 100 percent leadable – take notice it doesn’t appear to be real rock, instead has a high tech look to it. There will be 10 different color holds to show grade level. Walltopia is the #1 climbing wall manufacturer in the world. It is a European design with new European holds. In addition, after spending more time climbing during the soft opening it is clear there is an emphasis on kid’s programs and a true family feel as well as technical gym. From beginner classes to party walls from lead walls to chimneys and cracks, Gravity Vault will leave you eager to return again. Follow GravityVault to stay informed on announcements and happenings!

Happy Climbing,
