KINGSTON, NY

Drive past the endless stream of chains and box stores, a universe where rampant commercialism eliminates our connection with food, craftsmen and passion. In fact, avoid Ulster Ave altogether. This is not Kingston.

You’ll find Kingston in the shadows of the Catskill Mountains, situated where the Rondout Creek and the Hudson River meet. You’ll find Kingston on Wall Street, poured through a nitrogen line tap at a prohibition styled tavern, splattered on 3 stories of muralled brick, and hidden in a coffee house drawer. Kingston is slowly realizing its character. The Uptown New Year celebration offered a glimpse of what could be every weekend if only the rest of us would take notice. Newcomers Rocket Number Nine and Rhino Records (an offshoot of the popular New Paltz shop) have quickly established themselves in Kingston’s Stockade District.  For you bibliophiles, Rhino Records Kingston doubles as a well curated book store.
